Hidden in the undulating hills of Wandin, Victoria is one of the first homesteads, Mont De Lancey, settled by the Sebire family. Along with the Rougets and Gaudions, the Sebires were one of the original French settlers in the Yarra Valley.
Now a new French connection has arrived at Mont De Lancey in the form of a unique French style café... 'Lés CHESSELLES'.
Not only will you enjoy French food but also French wines and cheeses, as well of course alongside the best wines of the Yarra Valley. As part of the experience, Gourmet produce are also available.

BASTILLE DAY at Les Chesselles 2009
Bastille Day at Mont De Lancey and Les Chesselles was a great success in 2008, and is shaping up to be another fabulous event this year!

The magnificent gardens of the property history abounds with an original Slab Kitchen, Machinery Shed and Blacksmiths Workshop. The gardens, St Mary's Chapel and gazebo or under the 100 year old Peppercorn tree near the newly established Rose Garden also provide a beautiful setting for Weddings which can be fully catered by Les Chesselles.

Popular film and TV personality Paul Mercurio recently filmed Mercurio's Menu at Mont De Lancey, sampling some of the produce at the Farmers Market, and sharing duties in the kitchen with Chris Helleren at Les Chesselles. Stream the program here.
Les Chesselles - an interesting history
In 1491 a land owner from Switzerland sold a parcel of land just inside the French border to a man called Chesselles where the village of Chesselles had its beginning. Over the next four hundred years the descendants moved throughout Europe and up into England where over time the name was anglicised to become Chessell. This was the maiden name of the owner Christine.

Lés Chesselles is extremely privileged to be able to offer a SIX week course in the art of making chocolate, STARTING 20th July 2009.
(unfortunately the May / June classes are full)
Classes commence at 7:00pm

Wild Patch Chocolates of Olinda
Wild Patch Chocolates is a boutique chocolate company that creates Gourmet hand-crafted chocolates using traditional methods and imported Belgium couverture. The chocolate is poured, shaped drizzled and dipped over freshly made fillings. No preservatives or artificial flavours are used.
The range also includes handcrafted chocolate bars and special occasion pieces-ornate chocolate eggs, deluxe boxed chocolates, lattice spheres and other sculptures made on request.
The owner and chocolatier at Wild Patch, trained in Melbourne and Europe, uses the finest local and imported ingredients, and has a passion for great chocolate. You will be learning all areas of chocolate making in the warmth of the French restaurant.
All the ingredients and equipment will be supplied.
